Yrjö Olavi Samuli Kokko (16 October 1903, Sortavala – 6 September 1977, Helsinki) was Finnish veterinarian and writer. His was married to dentist Aune Ilus. He is most notable for his fairy tale Pessi and Illusia and initiating conservation work for whooper swan in Finland.[1] In the 50's he became sad, because new time and new lifestyle came to Lapland. He was awarded with Pro Finlandia medal in 1956.
Yrjö Kokko illustrated several of his books with nature photographs taken by himself.
